Faced with a legacy IT stack from the 2004 era, Rao tackled the challenge with a core team of “Nerds” to embrace the unknown and work toward transforming  BIS’s platforms into modern day era of solutions. In this session, he will report on the team’s progress.

As agencies look to modernize their data strategies, the focus has naturally been on integrating structured and semi-structured data to drive mission-readiness. But a vast amount of critical information remains locked away in “unstructured” formats, such as PDF, image, and video. This creates isolated data “silos” that can impact an agency’s goal of becoming truly “Data Driven”. This session will focus on recent innovations in Snowflake that allow our customers to fully integrate unstructured data into the Data Cloud, right alongside their structured and unstructured data assets.

Increased risks and cybersecurity threats from sophisticated adversaries on government networks have necessitated the implementation of enhanced cybersecurity measures. This session will discuss DISA’s efforts to modernize and strengthen the Department of Defense’s cybersecurity and IT efficiency through the use of state-of-the-art, commercial security capabilities. Hear about DISA’s plans to pilot and expand its zero trust and Enterprise Identity, Credential, Access Management (ICAM) activities, including Thunderdome (a zero trust solution) as well as how these efforts factor into DISA’s strategic plan to enable modernization.
