Edge Computing & Hybrid Cloud
Korie Seville, Technical Director, Hosting and Compute Center, Defense Information Systems Agency
Working with a hybrid cloud--combined federal and commercial cloud environments--isn’t easy, but can revolutionize agencies’ abilities to fulfill their mission. Hybrid cloud networks push computing and data to the edge, opening up new vistas for employee and public services. Understanding how to adapt and operate in those environments is complex and requires operational and workforce changes.

From Edge Computing to Edge Intelligence
Dr. Tao Zhang, Lead, Transformational Networks and Services Group, Communications Technology Lab, National Institute of Standards and Technology
Over the past few years, edge computing has become essential to advanced networks (e.g., 5G and coming 6G), computing platforms, and a wide range of applications (e.g., industrial automation, automated driving). More recently, the research community and the industry are moving to the next frontier – edge intelligence or edge AI. Edge AI will be important for many aspects of future networks and networked systems, including enabling new AI-based architectures, creating AI-based network functions and applications, and providing quality assurance. This session will examine the evolution from edge computing toward edge intelligence, and illustrate key challenges and opportunities.

Hurdles, Expectations and Threats – Focus on the Fundamentals
Aaron Smith, Regional Vice President for Federal Technical Account Management, Tanium
Talk to your doctor or even car mechanic about how they methodically work through a problem. They start with the fundamentals, know the data, and then adapt along the way. However, why is it that many times as cyber security experts, we instead jump straight to a solution that never had the required planning and extensibility needed to solve the problem in the first place. During this presentation Aaron Smith, Regional Vice President of Technical Account Management at Tanium, will walk through the requirements, processes, and how to reach the goal of security resilience.
